Busy Times

It's been a long time.  Here's an update on what's happening.

Applefest went really well at our church.  I got dunked in  the dunk tank - but not as much as our pastor or Jeff.  Hope you were able to make it on Saturday.

I am teaching a class at the college - Business Information Systems.  I think it's going well - so far.  I gave the first test last week so we'll see...

Men's Fraternity began at our church last week.  I just went for the 2nd meeting this morning.  This is going to be a great time for me to get to know some of the other men in our church and for them to really get to know me.  (for more info on Men's Fraternity go to:  http://www.mensfraternity.com

Well, I had better go.  It's been a long day.  I'm helping my Mom out with her paper delivery this week - i've been up since 2am today.  She's doing great after her surgery - she got out of the hospital on Sunday.  I just saw her this morning and she's getting around wonderfully.

Talk to you soon.

Currently Listening
Refiner's Fire: 25 Top Vinyard Worship Songs
By Various Artists
see related

Well, sorry it has been so long since my last update.  Guess I've been busy with other things - blogging dropped out of the top 10 on my to-do list.  Still working on our basement.  Carpet is down, pictures and other keepsakes are sorted, shelving is put together, etc.  Still lot of little things to do before we can say, "okay, ready for the next area."  (The next area is the stairway coming down into the basement).

Going to Higginsville on Friday to see some great friends there and see their son in "The Music Man" in Warrensburg.

Got to see one of Immanuel's great saints - Miss Mildred - today.  Her health isn't doing so well, but she's still with it.  Kori and I went and sang some hymns and gospel tunes to her.  I believe she enjoyed that very much.  Please pray for Miss Mildred that her faith would continue to be strong.

I'll leave you with a Thought/Verse of the Day...  from Worship:  Believers Experiencing God by Blackaby and Owens.

This section of the book talks about the way we live and worship and how that glorifies God.

..."So important was the disciples' relationship with Jesus and the Father that Jesus prayed to His Father, 'That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.  May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me' (John 17:21, our emphasis).  The way we live and worship does redemptively, and eternally, affect much in the kindom of God.  If we live or 'walk, even as he walked' (1John 2:6), the world will know Him and know how to respond to Him in a saving way.  However, if we fail to live as He is in us, the world will not know Him through us and may be eternally lost."

We, as Christians, have a great responsibility.  I believe that was well stated by the authors.  It is so important that we, as God's people, truly worship God as He intended and designed it!  If we truly worship Him and are fully in His presence, He will reveal those things in us that are not like Him (sin).  As we realize this sin, we will be called by God to repent and turn away from it.

I like the song Refiner's Fire.  We sang it in church this past Sunday.  The lyrics are:

V1, C, V2, C, C

Verse 1

Purify my heart

Let me be as gold

And precious silver

Purify my heart

Let me be as gold

Pure gold

Verse 2

Purify my heart

Cleanse me from within

And make me holy

Purify my heart

Cleanse me from my sin

Deep within

Chorus:

Refiner's fire

My heart's one desire

Is to be holy

Set apart for You Lord

I choose to be holy

Set apart for You my Master

Ready to do Your will

see you later.

Workin' on the Basement

Okay, I'm working on getting another part of our house fixed up.  Sandy and I have painted the ceiling and walls, laid a little more tile and put down some carpet (that we got from some friends who were redoing their living room).  I'm getting ready to clean the carpet now.  It looks great so far.

All our clothes are upstairs right now but shouldn't be that way for long.  When everything's back in place, I'll be able to work on getting a toilet and shower working in the basement.  Then we'll be ready to redo the upstairs bathroom.  The work never ends but is rewarding.

Outside, I need to trap me some moles.  Those little boogers are tearing up the yard out back.  I've tried poison - doesn't seem to work.  I may try a trap to get 'em.

Song of the day is "At the Foot of the Cross" written by Kathyrn Scott.  Here are the lyrics... Powerful.

Verse 1
At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love
Through the judgment You received
And You've won my heart
And You've won my heart

Chorus 1
Now I can trade these ashes into beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay ev'ry burden down
At the foot of the cross

Verse 2
At the foot of the cross
Where I am made complete
You have given me life
Through the death You bore for me
And You've won my heart
And You've won my heart

Chorus 2
Trade these ashes into beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of Mercy
I lay ev'ry burden down
At the foot of the cross

Misc 1
(BRIDGE)
And You've won my heart
And You've won my heart

Misc 2
(ENDING)
I lay ev'ry burden down
I lay ev'ry burden down
At the foot of the cross
(Ah ah)
At the foot of the cross
(Ah ah)
At the foot of the cross
(Ah ah)
At the foot of the cross

Here's a great book - a biography on a great prayer warrior of old.  The name of the book is George Muller Delighted in God written by Roger Steer.  It is a great story for Christians on how the power of prayer can change things.  It also really gives a good reason to keep a journal.  Muller kept one and in it not only gave things happening about his life, but also recorded things he would pray for and answers to those requests.  That's why this book was able to be written and why it is such a good one.  I would encourage anyone to read it.
